It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of Richard C. Pittman. Richard is lovingly remembered by his wife Joyce of 43 years, sons Edward (Cindy), Darren, Jason and brother-in-law John, who was very much a son to him. Richard was extremely loving and proud of his 5 grandchildren, Dawson, Laurelle, Nicholas, Benjamin and Thomas. He is also survived by his father Jesse, siblings Linda (Norman) Pethick, Frances (Gerry) McCowan, Corrine (Colin) McLeod, Colleen (Charles) LaRiviere, Brian (Pamela), Darlene Nordlander, Darryl (Colleen), Dwayne (Lana) along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Richard was predeceased by his mother Dorothy and father-in-law Joseph Edward, both in 1979.
Richard was born and raised in Athabasca, AB for 17 years, and then lived in Hay River, NWT and Jasper, AB for a few years before moving permanently to the NWT, and Yellowknife where he spent most of his adult life.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands and spending time with his grandchildren. He was blessed with many gifts and always chose the role of teacher and mentor in all that he did, including his time with CN Telecommunications / Northwestel before retiring in 2013.
Per his wishes, a Funeral Service will be held at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton at 2:30 pm, Saturday June 7, 2014. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.com
Richard was a loving son, father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
