Cornelis was born in Haarlem. He was the oldest of three children, and had one brother and one sister. Cornelis immigrated to Canada in 1957 and was predeceased by his loving wife of fifty years, Martina. Cornelis will be forever in the hearts of his children, Christina (Kevin) and Cornell (Nora); grandchildren, Cody, Amy, Jade and Christopher; siblings, Bert (Dorinda) and Cathy.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
