On April 12, 2019 Fredrick H. Albert of Edmonton succumbed to cancer, passing peacefully in his sleep.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Doris (nee Ewasiuk); his daughter, Jody (Brian); and his beloved grandchildren, Max, Marie, Joseph, and Samuel. He was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Harry; and his son, Kevin.
Fred was a self-made man. He began selling shoes at a young age, later opening six stores of his own in Edmonton. Equipped with common sense, a strong work ethic, and the support of his wife, Fred diversified his business interests widely. From shoe stores, to owning many Edmonton properties, to owning a concrete plant, to an Italian restaurant.
He was fond of family trips to Europe, Mexico, and especially Hawaii in the earlier years. Over the past twenty years he enjoyed many vacations and winters in Scottsdale, Arizona with Doris.
More than anything, Fred will be remembered for his devotion to family, unique sense of humour, generosity, and style. His grandchildren were his greatest hobby.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the care and compassion he received from the entire Urology team at the UAH and St. Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit. Please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at St. Thomas More Parish, 210 Haddow Close NW, Edmonton, AB T6R 2P3. Interment to follow.
