Susan Jane Lucarotti (née Burrows) died peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Edmonton, Alberta.
The second of four children born to Ethelda (Teddy, née O'Neill) and Dudley F. Burrows in Québec City, Susan completed her primary and secondary education in Québec before going to Montréal to train as a nurse. After receiving her R.N., Susan went to McGill University for her Bachelor of Nursing degree where she met the love of her life, Christopher Lucarotti. They married on September 18, 1976. Following their respective graduations from McGill, Susan and Chris lived in several places over their almost 46 years of married life including Riverside California, Halifax, Fredericton, and Edmonton. Susan spent most of her professional career working as a public health nurse in Fredericton.
Susan is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Chris; their children, Peter (Sanha Kang), Alison (Trevor Connors); and grandchildren, Jack and Lauren Connors. Susan will also be greatly missed by her dear mother, Teddy; sister, Barbara Burrows (Stuart Hotzel); brother, Ian Burrows (Lori Yallin); sister-in-law, Johanna Burrows; stepfather-in-law, Nigel Bevan (Doreen); stepmother-in-law, Rolli Lucarotti; sister-in-law, Charlie Lucarotti-Hartmann (Rolf); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Susan was pre-deceased by her father, Dudley; brother, John; mother-in-law, Lorna Bevan; father-in-law, John V. Lucarotti and sister-in-law, Kim Scott (Brian).
Susan loved to travel especially to places connected to her keen interest in European medieval history. As a talented seamstress and knitter, Susan loved to sew and knit gifts for others. Most of all Susan loved her family and her many friends.
Susan's family express their sincere gratitude to everyone charged with Susan's expert care at the University of Alberta Hospital Division of Otolaryngology, the Cross Cancer Institute, the Grey Nuns Hospital Tertiary Palliative Care Unit, and Dr. C. A Memorial Service will be held for Susan at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Foster & McGarvey Funeral Home Funeral Home (10011 114 Street NW, Edmonton). For those unable to join in person, a livestream of the service can be accessed here.
